Malaysia’s manufacturing sales value grows 18.8% to RM142.4b in November 2021

Malaysia’s manufacturing sales in November 2021 stood at RM142.4 billion, growing 18.8% compared with the same month in 2020, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) said.

In its monthly manufacturing statistics for November 2021 report, Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the sales value increased 1.2% from the previous month.

“The growth in sales value for this month was driven by the petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products subsector (29%), especially in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products industries.

“The expansion was also attributed by the food, beverage and tobacco subsector (20.7%), supported by the manufacture of food products industries, as well as the electrical and electronics products subsector (17.8%), mainly in the manufacture of computer, optical and electronics products,” he said in a statement.

The long-awaited guidelines for the Voluntary Disclosure and Amnesty Programme (VA) were recently released by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) and will take effect from January 1, 2022. The programme is available to resolve various indirect tax liabilities such as import duty, export duty, sales tax, service tax, excise duty, GST, tourism tax, and departure levy.

Staff Of EU Delegation, Embassies Comes Together To Help Flood Victims

In a gesture of solidarity with Malaysians, staff of the European Union (EU) delegation to Malaysia and embassies of EU member states pooled resources to help the country’s flood victims.

A team of embassy staff members, led by EU Ambassador to Malaysia Michalis Rokas, participated in a volunteer service at the Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya here, where they helped to pack and sort food and necessities meant for flood victims.

“It is a small token from the European Union Member States and Embassies in Malaysia, to show solidarity and bring relief to affected Malaysians.

“I would like to thank and commend Gurdwara Sahib for their tireless work coordinating the flood relief aid,” said Rokas in a statement.

CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS OF OMICRON NEW VARIANTS (B.1.1.529)

The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) would like to inform that a total of 44 positive cases of COVID- 19 were confirmed with the Omicron variant through full genome sequencing (WGS) conducted by the Institute Medical Research (IMR) and seven (7) COVID-19 positive cases of local infections in Sarawak have been confirmed with the Omicron variant by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
