The Ministry of Economy believes that job opportunities for the people, including young individuals and rural youth, can be boosted through engagement of industry leaders in implementing projects and flagship initiatives under the National Energy Transition Plan (NETR).
The ministry said that among industry leaders offering their involvement are Petronas, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd, Malakoff Corporation Bhd, Sime Darby Property Bhd and Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
“19 implementation modalities have been identified, showing diversity in development levels and the need for human capital empowerment support,” it said on the Parliament website on Tuesday in response to a question from Datuk Shamsulkahar Mohd Deli (BN-Jempol) regarding NETR that can create 23,000 high-value job opportunities and how young people, including rural youth, can benefit from these job opportunities.
The ministry said NETR, launched on August 29, aims to facilitate a fair energy transition, protect the people, create opportunities and support innovation through a whole-of-nation approach.
It said in this context, the 23,000 job opportunities referred to the 10 projects and flagship initiatives under six energy transition drivers: energy efficiency (EE), new energy sources, hydrogen, bioenergy, green mobility and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).
