[PRESS RELEASE] MASSIVE JUMP IN APPROVED INVESTMENTS IN MALAYSIA SIGNALS CONFIDENCE OF INVESTORS

A press release has been issued by Senior Minister, Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) – press release as follows:

Malaysia achieved robust and impressive performance for the first half of 2021 with foreign direct investments (FDI) soaring by 223.1 per cent compared to 1H 2020, signalling the confidence of foreign investors in the country’s stable and conducive economic climate and business ecosystem. This augurs well for Malaysia’s path to vibrant and sustainable economic recovery.

The stellar performance also demonstrates that Malaysia’s strategy of positioning the country as an attractive investment destination of choice and a supply chain hub in ASEAN, particularly for manufacturing operations, is showing positive results. FDI drove the strong and vibrant performance of the manufacturing sector during the period, registering RM58.2 billion in approved investments. The remaining RM8.7 billion approved investments in this sector were from domestic sources.

[MEDIA RELEASE] LOADING AND UNLOADING ACTIVITIES FOR IMPORT AND EXPORT PURPOSES ALLOWED TO OPERATE 24 HOURS 7 DAYS A WEEK

A media release has been issued by the Ministry of Transport regarding the Loading and Unloading Activities for Import and Export Purposes Allowed to Operate 24 Hours 7 Days A Week – media release as follows:

To further ease the movement of all goods nationwide and make it easier for logistics and transportation companies to conduct business, we are pleased to announce that loading and unloading of non-essential goods for import and export purposes will be allowed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with immediate effect.

Previously, this activity to load and unload non-essential goods to be carried out at premises was limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00am to 8:00pm.

The decision was made following a request from the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to the National Security Council (MKN) in order to prevent build-up of congestion at warehouses and container yards and further ensure the smooth flow of goods as the economy picks up again.

Here are the highlights of the latest updated SOPs for Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP):

Areas Involved:

Perlis, Sarawak and Negeri Sembilan.

*For Sarawak, please refer to the National Rehabilitation Plan - SOP Phase 3 Sarawak.

**For areas enforced by EMCO, the EMCO SOP in the area is effective until the expiry date of the EMCO.

Effective Period:

Starting 16 August 2021 (starting 12.01am)

*For Negeri Sembilan starting on 4 September 2021 (starting 12.01am)
