Czech-Malaysian Medical Devices Business Forum

EUROCHAM Malaysia was invited to attend the Czech-Malaysian Medical Devices Business Forum that was focusing on exploring potential opportunities and collaborations with medical manufacturing companies that produces medical devices. Showcasing that the Czech government can be a good technical partner in the research development of medical devices.

It was a fruitful event with the attendance and opening remarks by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malaysia, H.E. Milan Hupcej, an address of Chief Guest, H.E. Mr Jiří Kozák, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, industry views by Mr Johari Abu Kasim, President of Malaysian Medical Device Manufacturers Association (PERANTIM), Industry views by Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh, President, Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia and Introduction of Czech Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices by Mr Petr Foit, Vice President of Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices.

During the event, we were able to witness the signing of the MoU between Mr Petr Foit, Vice President of the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices and Mr Johari Abu Kasim, Malaysian Medical Device Manufacturers Association.

Technical Meeting with Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI)

EUROCHAM Malaysia had a Technical Meeting with the Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), YBhg. Datuk Hanafi Sakri. The visit was attended by EUROCHAM Malaysia CEO, Mr Sven Schneider, Head of Automotive Sector Committee, EUROCHAM Malaysia corporate partners, members and bilateral chambers.

The government agencies that took part in the meeting were the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Road Transport Department (JPJ), Immigration Department (JIM) and Talent Corporation (TalentCorp) as well as representatives from Ministry of Finance (MOF) and Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC).

Healthcare Sector Committee Meeting

EUROCHAM Malaysia recently organised the Healthcare Sector Committee meeting last week at our office. In attendance at the meeting were Mr Sven Schneider, CEO of EUROCHAM Malaysia, Head of Sector Committee, EUROCHAM Malaysia team, alongside other representatives of the Healthcare committee members.

We highlighted and discussed advocacy-related updates during the committee meeting, and discussion on topics to include in future publications as well as engagements with the relevant Ministries and/or Government Agencies. We also highlighted a few roadworks within the sector committee and have agreed to work together to identify long-term solutions moving forward.

Hydrogen economy expected to boost Malaysia’s GDP by 2030

A new hydrogen economy is expected to contribute between RM49bil and RM61bil to Malaysia’s gross domestic product by 2030, says the Prime Minister.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim added that a total of 45,000 job opportunities would also be created under the proposed Hydrogen Economy Technology Roadmap (HETR).

“The HETR that was discussed and agreed upon during the National Science Council would support the country’s Low Carbon Aspirations 2040 under the 2022–2040 National Energy Policy.

“The market for green hydrogen is projected to reach US$189.19bil,” Anwar said in a statement read by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang at the National Science Centre yesterday.
