Welcome Danone Specialized Nutrition (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. to EUROCHAM Malaysia

We would like to welcome our new member Danone Specialized Nutrition (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. to EUROCHAM Malaysia! We are excited to have your esteemed organisation as part of our EU-MY business community. We look forward to working together to bolster future and stronger business alliances.

DANONE is a global leader with a unique health-focused portfolio in food and beverages and a longstanding mission to bring Health through Food to as many people as possible. Danone’s commitment to bringing health through food is as old as the company itself. In 1919, Isaac Carasso began making yogurt to help children with intestinal infections, using cultures from the Pasteur Institute. In the 1920s, he sold his first yogurts in Barcelona pharmacies before expanding into grocery stores. Even prior to this, in the late 1890's, Nutricia - which joined forces with Danone in 2007 - was pioneering discoveries that have transformed people's lives around the world.

For a century, Danone has been faithful to the original purpose, selling healthy, delicious products tailored to the nutritional needs and eating habits of our consumers. Essential Dairy and Plant-Based Products, Waters, Early Life Nutrition and Medical Nutrition–all of our ranges share the same goal: offering innovative, top-quality products that meet the expectations of consumers at every stage of life.

UNHCR – Support of the Earthquakes in south-eastern Türkiye and northern Syria

EUROCHAM Malaysia is in support together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) of the recent tragedies that have struck in south-eastern Türkiye and northern Syria.

Two powerful earthquakes have struck in south-eastern Türkiye and northern Syria. Over 40,000 people are confirmed dead across Türkiye and Syria as of 14th February, with numbers expected to rise. Amongst those affected inside Syria are Syrians who are still displaced in their own country and living in flimsy shelters, tents, and partially destroyed buildings. In Türkiye, the impact also includes thousands of refugees and the communities that have been generously hosting them for nearly 12 years.

The earthquake has destroyed people’s homes and local infrastructure—families are in urgent need of relief items and shelter. Severe winter storms are sweeping through the region—families need urgent protection from icy winds, snow, and rain.

UNHCR is on the ground with emergency items including tents, food, blankets, and hygiene items.  We encourage your support as it would make a big difference in the lives of affected people in Türkiye and Syria.

M'sia targets to have 4,000 EV charging points this year – MITI

Malaysia is expected to provide up to 4,000 electrical vehicles (EV) charging points this year, said the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI).

MITI's Industrial Development Division senior director, Datuk Hanafi Sakri said Malaysia currently has 900 EV charging points.

"We have a national roadmap for EV charging stations where we are targeting to have about 10,000 charging stations by 2025, comprising 1,000 units direct current type and 9,000 units alternating current or slow charging.

"Given the current momentum, I think we will be able to achieve the target," he said during the press conference at Malaysia's EV conference 2023 here today.

Under the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021-2030, Malaysia aims to have EVs and hybrid vehicles account for at least 15 per cent of the total industry volume (TIV) by 2030.
