Sustainability Sector Committee Meeting

On 11 October 2022, EUROCHAM Malaysia held the second Sustainability Sector Committee meeting and saw an attendance of various stakeholders from both the Malaysian and European business communities. The meeting commenced with opening remarks from EUROCHAM Malaysia’s CEO, Sven Schneider, followed by the unanimous election of Pearl Lai, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director of Carlsberg Malaysia as the Head of the Sustainability Sector Committee.

Updates on the sustainability front within the Malaysian regulatory landscape were divulged, specifically on the adoption of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in the manufacturing sector of which EUROCHAM Malaysia attended a meeting at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) as well as on e-waste management mechanism in Malaysia organised by the Hazardous Substances Division under the Department of Environment, Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) last month. Several issues and challenges were also raised and discussed, i.e. Budget 2023.
