EUROCHAM Malaysia CEO, Mr Sven Schneider, and the Deputy Head of the Education Sector Committee held a meeting with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) today and were pleased to have received a warm welcome from Ir. Professor Dato' Dr Ewe Hong Tat, President of UTAR, and Ir. Dr Chua Kein Huat, Chairperson of the Centre for Railway Infrastructure and Engineering, to discuss potential collaborations.
During the productive meeting, several exciting proposals were put forward, aiming to foster stronger ties and create mutually beneficial opportunities. EUROCHAM Malaysia expressed its intention to explore research partnerships for EU-Malaysia businesses, trade, and investment. By joining forces, we aim to unlock new insights and drive innovation in various sectors.
EUROCHAM Malaysia is also eager to explore opportunities in establishing a government relations course and promoting advocacy-related workshops for students pursuing Political Science, Economy, and International Relations. This initiative aims to equip future leaders with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of government affairs.
Furthermore, additional collaborations were discussed, including workshops and seminars to enlighten supporting partners of UTAR on the EU sustainability agenda, particularly the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework. UTAR also extended a warm welcome to EUROCHAM Malaysia to visit their scenic Kampar campus.
We anticipate holding more similar meetings to further strengthen and bolster alliances for a more prosperous EU-Malaysia partnership.

EUROCHAM Malaysia was invited to attend the Czech-Malaysian Medical Devices Business Forum that was focusing on exploring potential opportunities and collaborations with medical manufacturing companies that produces medical devices. Showcasing that the Czech government can be a good technical partner in the research development of medical devices.
It was a fruitful event with the attendance and opening remarks by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malaysia, H.E. Milan Hupcej, an address of Chief Guest, H.E. Mr Jiří Kozák, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, industry views by Mr Johari Abu Kasim, President of Malaysian Medical Device Manufacturers Association (PERANTIM), and Introduction of Czech Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices by Mr Petr Foit, Vice President of Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices.
During the event, we witnessed the signing of the MoU between Mr Petr Foit, Vice President of the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices and Mr Johari Abu Kasim, Malaysian Medical Device Manufacturers Association.
We thank the Embassy of the Czech Embassy Kuala Lumpur for inviting us to attend such an insightful event - we look forward to attending more events like these to strengthen and bolster alliances for a prosperous EU-Malaysia partnership.

EUROCHAM Malaysia had a Technical Meeting with the Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), YBhg. Datuk Hanafi Sakri. The meeting was attended by EUROCHAM Malaysia CEO, Mr Sven Schneider, Head of Automotive Sector Committee, EUROCHAM Malaysia corporate partners, members and bilateral chambers.
The government agencies that took part in the meeting were the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Road Transport Department (JPJ), Immigration Department (JIM) and Talent Corporation (TalentCorp) as well as representatives from Ministry of Finance (MOF) and Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC).
To further solidify and support the alliance for a more fruitful collaboration between the EU and Malaysia, EUROCHAM Malaysia looks forward to arranging additional discussions with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in the future.

EUROCHAM Malaysia recently organised the Healthcare Sector Committee meeting last week at our office. In attendance at the meeting were Mr Sven Schneider, CEO of EUROCHAM Malaysia, Head of Sector Committee, EUROCHAM Malaysia team, alongside other representatives of the Healthcare committee members.
We highlighted and discussed advocacy-related updates during the committee meeting, and had a discussion on topics to include in future publications as well as engagements with the relevant Ministries and/or Government Agencies. We also highlighted a few roadworks within the sector committee and have agreed to work together to identify long-term solutions moving forward.
We appreciate everyone's participation in and cooperation with this meeting, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the Healthcare Sector Committee.

EUROCHAM Malaysia conducted the first merged Education and Human Resources sector committee meeting that was held last week. After consultation with the two sectors, EUROCHAM decided to merge the two committees due to the many overlapping challenges as well as effective working groups can be established to address specific topics or arising challenges in the future.
In attendance were Mr Sven Schneider, CEO of EUROCHAM Malaysia, Dr Jenny J. Westin, Head of Sector Committee, Mr Andrew Chong, Deputy Head of Sector Committee and the EUROCHAM Malaysia team, alongside other committee members, which include:
- Mr Shafiqe, Chairman of Finnish Education Solutions (FEDS);
- Mr Vasudevan Arumugam, Director, Aspire Knowledge;
- Ms Ku Sim Ling, Director of Corporate Services, Persolkelly;
- Mr Manish Mehta, Director, Propay Partners; and
- Ms Muniswari, Manager, Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC).
We highlighted and discussed advocacy-related updates during the committee meeting, which includes topics such as talent mobility and talent development. We also highlighted a few roadworks within the sector committee and have agreed to work together to identify long-term solutions moving forward.
