[MEDIA STATEMENT] TRAVEL APPROVAL LETTER TO OPERATE FOR LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORTATION SECTOR THROUGH SMILE SYSTEM AND ACTIVITIES PERMITTED DURING NRP AND EMCO PERIOD

Ministry of Transportation issued a media statement regarding the Travel approval letter to operate for the logistics and transportation sector through the SMILE system and activities permitted during NRP and EMCO period - media statement as follows:

Following the announcement of the National Rehabilitation Plan (NRP) and the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in several townships in Selangor and several localities in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur from 3 July 2021 to 16 July 2021, the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) would like to inform that companies in the logistics and transportation sector are allowed to continue using travel approval letters issued under the SMILE System dated from 1 June 2021 for inspections at roadblocks (SJR).


Meanwhile, the latest letter which takes into account the transition from the MCO Phase to the NRP is available for download from 5th July 2021 from the SMILE system via the website https://application.mot.gov.my. Eligible companies are encouraged to download this letter.


For loading/unloading of non-essential items, it is only allowed outside EMCO areas nationwide based on existing SOP. Whereas for areas within EMCO, it is limited to warehousing companies which are part of the supply chain servicing ports and airports as stipulated in the SOP for Selangor and KL EMCO. For sectors other than warehousing, loading/unloading activities are limited to companies listed in the EMCO essential list only.
