[MEDIA STATEMENT] – NATIONAL PALACE

A media statement has been issued by the National Palace – media statement as follows:

It is informed that His Majesty, The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah consented to attend and chair the Rulers Special Discussion at Istana Negara today.

At this Special Discussion session, which lasted for two and a half hours starting at 2:30 pm, His Majesty has conveyed to The Royal Highnesses, The Malay Rulers, the nomination process of the prime minister, following the resignation of the Honorable Tan Sri Mahiaddin bin Md. Yasin on 16 August 2021.

This process is a continuation of His Majesty's order during the facing session with the heads and representatives of the country's major political parties on 17 August 2021 where all 220 Members of the House of Representatives were asked to state the name of a given member of the House of Representatives. trusted by the Members of the House of Representatives to become the Prime Minister through a statutory declaration.
