[PRESS RELEASE] EUROCHAM MALAYSIA’S 29th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

EUROCHAM Malaysia recently hosted the 29th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at EQ Kuala Lumpur, which brought together European Union (EU) Bilateral Chambers of Commerce, European Industry Leaders in Malaysia, and Malaysian Captains of Industries being part of the EUROCHAM network. EUROCHAM Malaysia is excited to announce the newly elected and re-elected members of the board including Mr. Oliver Roche and Mr. Luciano Pezzotta as Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively.

The Chamber team and community congratulate the four (4) new and six (6) re- elected members of the Board and express appreciation for their vast expertise and willingness to accept the challenge of leading and elevating the Chamber to the next level. The members of the Board include;

  • Chairman, Oliver Roche, Irish Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia,
  • Deputy Chairman, Luciano Pezzotta, Italy Malaysia Business Association,
  • Remco Koster, Malaysian Dutch Business Council,
  • Pearl Lai, Malaysian Danish Business Council,
  • Carl Malmqvist, Malaysian-Swedish Business Association,
  • Daniel Pans, BeLuxCham Malaysia,
  • Jordi Pol, Malaysian Spanish Chamber of Commerce & Industry,
  • Jari Silventoinen, Malaysian-Finnish Business Council,
  • Raymond Lim, Airbus Malaysia, and
  • Dato Michael Wong, Global Business Advisory.

Mr. Oliver Roche, Chairman of EUROCHAM Malaysia shared, “The combined vast business experience that the Board holds will be a great asset and source of knowledge for our Chamber to continuously grow and expand. It is my great pleasure to welcome four new members to the Board of Directors as well as to continue working with the five re-elected directors. In my opinion, this election and combination of new and returning directors will provide a good mix of continuity and new ideas for the Chambers' future and growth.”

The Chamber is fortunate to welcome four (4) new directors from different chambers and the private sector, who are ready to make a difference. Among the new directors is Ms. Pearl Lai, Director, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, Carlsberg Malaysia, and Director, Malaysian Danish Business Council to the Board. Pearl has worked for Carlsberg Malaysia for over 16 years and counting. She is responsible for strengthening the Company’s reputation through purpose-driven profiling, protecting license to brew via regulatory engagement, and safeguarding rights to operate by sustainability developments in Malaysia and Singapore.

Furthermore, newly elected Board member Mr. Raymond Lim, Airbus Chief Representative, Malaysia will offer experience from thirty years in aviation, managing different teams and ultimately companies in local and multi-national settings. Besides that, Raymond has worked internationally in Germany, France, and PR China, providing him a wide, global outlook but adapted to the Malaysian culture.

Mr. Jordi Pol Ramon, Chairman of the Malaysian Spanish Chamber of Commerce (La Camara) and newly elected Member of the EUROCHAM Malaysia Board of Directors introduced himself saying: “Since my election as Chairman of the Malaysian Spanish Chamber of Commerce (La Camara), I was given the opportunity to oversee a platform that provides Spanish businesses the opportunity to establish themselves in Malaysia as well as Malaysian businesses in Spain. Through my newly founded role, I was able to create an environment that has strengthened relations between Spain and Malaysia through various robust business collaborations. With this experience, I am confident I can stream in value to this esteemed Chamber as we work collectively to strive for our main objectives and mission.”

Finally, the Chamber is able to welcome back one of its founding members, Mr Jari Silvertoinen. “I held the helm as the Chairman between 2003 and 2005 and thereafter, as Director from 2005 to 2010. Having resided and established businesses in Malaysia for over 30 years, I believe I have brought much to the table and am willing to continue to share my knowledge and experience for a better and stronger Chamber.”

EUROCHAM Malaysia is looking forward to the counsel and direction of the newly elected Board to achieve greater heights while utilising the expertise and knowledge of all Board for the benefit of stronger EU-Malaysia relations.
