Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) – Workshop on Expatriates’ Work Permits (Round 2)

On the 21st of March 2023, EUROCHAM Malaysia was invited to a second-round session of the Malaysia Productivity Corporation's (MPC) workshop to enhance the efficiency of expatriates' work permits in Malaysia, which was conducted in Hotel Hilton Petaling Jaya. The workshop began with the opening remarks from The Honourable Y.Bhg Dato' Ts. V Valluvan A/L Veloo, Director of Manufacturing Industry, Science and Technology Section Division, Ministry of Economy, followed by a sharing session on the expatriate’s application system by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), discussion on concerns from the industry and chambers, and way forward to expedite the expatriates' work permit applications.

All of the concerns raised are being taken into consideration by MPC, MDEC and other government agencies, who will then present these concerns to the Federal Government. More engagement sessions with the industry and various chambers will be conducted to facilitate the issuance of expatriate work permit that could further enhance assisting Malaysia to be at par with other developing nations.

EUROCHAM Malaysia looks forward to participating in more workshops and engagements with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) in the future to further strengthen and bolster alliances for a more prosperous EU-Malaysia partnership.
